Brief history

In 1941 Francisco António Castelo Junior and Daniel Pedro Caçorino companies agreed a partnership of means and joint exploitation of the held concessions.
On the 30th March 1944 they formalize the fusion between the two companies starting up, on the next 1st of April, the beginning of the activity of a new company, Castelo and Caçorino Lda.
Later Frota Azul company – Transportes e Tourismo Lda, with its headquarters in Olival Basto, aimed to the tourism activity, extends its operations to the Algarve. Acquires in 1990 the Castelo e Caçorino Ldª, which in 1993 changes its name for Frota Azul (Algarve) -. Transportes e Tourismo Ldª, by assuming as a continuer on the road passenger transport in the Algarvian West.
The Frota Azul (Algarve) – Transport e Tourismo Ldª. holds a social sphere of responsibilities, particularly in suburban and interurban passenger transport in the towns of Portimão, Monchique, Praia da Rocha, Lagos, Lagoa, Silves, Messines and Albufeira, and within the tourism purposes, effecting gross "transfers" , excursions in the region, the country and abroad promoting the strengthening of trade relationships with the Travel Agencies and Tour Operators in the Region.
With a fleet of 97 vehicles, data of November 2005, the Frota Azul (Algarve) can at present meet the needs of several business segments.
Frota Azul (Algarve) has its headquarters in Portimão, Caldeira do Moinho, where develops administrative activity and workshop (park, service station and vehicle maintenance).

Characteristics and Relevant Facts

In the transport of social nature (whether urban, suburban or interurban) the cooperation with local authorities has provided an approach to our customer’s wishes and expectations.
The nature of its mission implies the maintenance of a large responsiveness promptly and effectively to the customer requests for which it offers a diversified fleet type and easy technical conditions in expedited way of communication and contact with customers.
The quality of the service provision is ensured by systematic training of the board drivers and staff that ensures the fleet maintenance.
Beyond the own resources at its disposal, the fact that the company is part of an economic group of significant transports, allows to ensure the equipment maintenance and interventions throughout Portugal’s mainland.
The excellent rendered services allowed to be awarded in 1996 with the Tourism Merit Medal.
With inherently place, on the Advisory Board of the School Transport, is actively cooperating with the Municipal Councils of the municipalities where it operates.
